My Beach wedding Day-What’s a Little Rain?
I only had one regret when I married my husband. I had always wanted to be married on the beach in Florida. At the time, we simply did not have the money for even one of the budget beach weddings offered by some wedding planners. Still, my marriage to my husband has been long and happy. Earlier this year, my husband got down on bended knee and asked me to marry him again in a vow renewals ceremony. I knew I would finally have my dream of the perfect wedding package in Destin, Florida.
All went as planned. I worked with an excellent wedding coordinator who was able to arrange all aspects of my dream wedding over the phone and internet. She planned each detail out, from themes to dresses and from entertainment to the best wedding photographer. I had complete confidence in the planner and knew the wedding would go off without a hitch.
My husband and I, along with our family, arrived in Destin, Florida several days before the day of the ceremony. It allowed us time to enjoy the gorgeous beach and wonderfully hot sun. We really enjoyed the weather especially – we live in northern Michigan and the winter had been particularly brutal. After several days of fun in the sun it was time for the big event.

You never really believe that it will rain during your beach wedding – sure you hear horror stories, but you are positive it will not happen to you. Boy did it happen to me. It was not just a simple rain storm, it was a monsoon. With wind gusts that made the sand fly and the waves crash mightily down, my Destin wedding planner was all set to move the wedding in doors, but my husband and I would not be dissuaded. What was a little rain and sand and wind and waves against our love?
We ended up having the vow renewals ceremony right on the beach in the middle of one of the worse storms the city had every seen. The sand was flying so hard it stung our skin and we did not speak our vows so much as yell them. We were soaking wet, my gossamer veil practically disintegrated and we laughed the whole time.
Marriage proves that obstacles can be overcome and that sometimes love is all you need. When faced with the storm of the century, my husband and I simply clasped hands and looked it straight in the eye. We did it with a smile on our faces, laughter in our voices and the strength of love in our hearts. I cannot thank our wedding coordinator in Destin enough for planning out the perfect ceremony and allowing us the freedom to ‘ruin’ it by getting married in the rain.
Our funny little beach wedding in Destin, Florida was perfect. Our guests got a big kick out of watching us stand up to the storm…….of course they watched us from the comfort of the reception tent!
Haunted House
I’m the first person to admit that I use photography in a slightly different way than most people. I recently moved down to Florida, where I met and married my husband. When I moved into his Destin home, I didn’t just get a husband, I got step children as well – teenage step-children. Now it is important to note that both my husband and I are practical jokers – we really like to tease people, so it just seemed to make sense to use my talent as a photographer and our combined practical joke experience to ease the kids into having a new step-mother.
My step-son, who is 19, is gullible and easy to get. I discovered he is afraid of haunted houses. My husband and I decided the perfect way to ‘get’ his son was by convincing him the new house was haunted. As I have said, I am one of the most avid amateur photographers I know, so we decided to rely on my skills with my digital camera and Photoshop to convince my new step-son the house was haunted. After stopping at a Destin photographers shop to pick up a new digital camera, I began by snapping some pictures of the house one day when he wasn’t there. I made sure to take very ‘general’ pictures – nothing too close up, nothing too specific.
I uploaded the pictures I had taken to my computer and used Photoshop to make them a lot more spooky looking. For example, I used a ghost filter to blur the picture I took of his bathroom, and added odd flashes of light in mirrors and windows throughout the house. Some of the pictures I left alone, but I had set them up in advance to be odd. I took a picture of the kitchen with all the cabinets open and one of his vanity with the mirror hanging backwards.

Now is the kicker, once he had finished putting his new room together, I offered him my skills as a photographer, told him I would take some pictures of the house and help him upload them to the computer to send to his mother. This part didn’t just take photography skills, it took acting skills, because I had to duplicate the picture I had already taken. Luckily I had taken such general photos that the ‘point and click’ worked, he thought I was snapping shots he directed.
That night, the three of us sat down at the computer and my step-son watched me upload our pictures from my camera to the computer for the first time. What I actually did was simply open up the pictures I had previously taken. Imagine his surprise when he saw the picture of the kitchen with all the doors open – he freaked out, after all, he was there when I took the picture and he “knew” the cabinets were closed.
The joke went on from there, with my step son becoming more and more convinced that the photography shots I had taken proved the house was haunted. We told him, of course, that the house wasn’t haunted, and filled him in on the joke, but not until he spent an hour on the phone telling his friends about his ‘huanted’ house. We all agree that our haunted photography joke is one for the history books.
Super Destin Photography Woman
OK, I will admit it; I am not the most organized person in the world. I want to be; really I do, especially after the birth of my first son. I wanted so much to be one of those moms who had the camera always at the ready, my own personal photographer, but to be honest, there was just too much to remember. I swear the photography studio that develops pictures in Santa Rosa Beach in Florida probably has fifteen developed roles of my film.
When I was lucky enough to remember to drop off the film (that hardly ever happened), remembering to pick it up was a whole other matter.
So I did the next logical thing, I looked up Santa Rosa Beach photography studios and started bringing the baby in to a professional photographer. I guess this solution worked ok, but it was really expensive and I never got any of those candid shots of my Florida baby in the ocean at Santa Rosa Beach or cramming his face full of cake.
I figured the only way I was going to get what I wanted in regards to photography was to learn to do it myself.

So I broke down and bought one of those digital cameras. Now, I was sure that someone like me would never be able to produce quality photography with that little camera, but I did not really have anything to lose, so I gave it a shot. I read the manual, I charged my batteries, and I went to town. Clicking and snapping away, I ended up feeling like a true photographer. That little camera had more features then anyone could possibly need, but my goodness I was going to try them all. Action shots, night shots, time delayed and wide angle, I did it all.
And guess what? I did it well. I was beating those photographers at the local Santa Rosa Beach Photography studio hands down. I caught my little guy with his hand in the cookie jar, my husband snoozing on the patio and my dog digging a hole under the fence (which explained a lot actually). I was having the time of my life. Candid shots galore and more. I posed my family formerly, tried to get the dog to smile and even took some shots of birds and butterflies in my backyard.

No subject was too small for Super Photographer Women! I shot them all. And then, panic set in – I could not imagine getting the pictures off of my camera and onto my computer would be easy. I was very certain I would have to hold a degree in computerized photography to do it. I plugged in the cable, hit the power button and waited…..and there they were, in all their glory: my guilty boy, snoring spouse and digging dog. Even better, I could edit the pictures! No more red eye. Overexposed? No problem. I feel like Florida’s premier photographer now, only problem is, my friends and family are now refusing to open more than one email full of pics from me a day!
Photography that’s Good Enough to Eat
What is it about those great photographs, those three dimensional wonders that jump right off the menu at your favorite restaurant? How is it that a photographer can make the photos have you salivating for something you never would have thought of before you browsed the menu?

Many of my friends have often pondered their dining decisions based upon those grand snaps of delectable items instead of the written lists of culinary delights available. It’s amazing to see adults pointing to photographs of the food item when relaying their selection to the wait staff, as if they were incapable of reading the verbiage. The photographers who specialize in this 3-D menu photography are masters of the genre, eliciting from customers grand exclamations like, “wow, doesn’t that look yummy” or “yum, I’ll have to save room for that dessert”. With lighting, shadow and the proper camera, these talented gurus of photography can create menu pictures that jump of the page and will tempt any diner into a purchase.
They will often take an item which you would never have ordered based on the text listed, but then you see the culinary masterpiece enticing you to just try it. The need to select this item not based on food content, preparation methods, but just on the wonderful photograph that looks good enough to eat. What’s actually rather comical is that the 3-D food photography is usually not of the authentic food item, but of a replica, made from other substances, to replicate the meal. Just think about it.
Let’s say an ice cream shop wants to hire a professional photographer to add images of their specialty sundaes to their menu. Now picture the lighting required, and the heat that the lighting will generate. How long do you think genuine ice cream and whipped cream would hold up for several hours near that heat source? The answer – not very long at all. Shortly after being assembled, the confectionary masterpiece would look like a pool of melted sludge. That definitely wouldn’t produce a photograph the ice cream shop would want shared with their clientele! So, how do those master photographers attain those incredible shots?
Simply, they recreate the item out of substances that will hold up. That delectable ice cream sundae could have actually been scoops of stiff, colored mashed potatoes, with possibly shave cream or a polymer as the whipped topping. Though some real product may be used, like candy bits or nuts, the majority of the masterpiece being photographed was not fabricated with the genuine articles! Often, colored clays and molded plastics may be utilized by the photographer, topped with actual syrups.
Very rarely is the item in that wonderful photograph the food product itself. This may be one of the reasons why, when your order arrives, based upon one of those mouth-watering pictures, that you may be somewhat disappointed.

You based your choice on the fantastic ability of the photographer, instead of the culinary ability of the cook. Many talented chefs can produce the items on their menu with the same level of artistry found in the photography.
However, one should not expect masterpieces from a fast food or family restaurant, where the cooks might have been an auto mechanic last week. If you are going to make your dining selection based on the photographer’s mastery, it is best to stick to restaurants that employ culinary masters in their kitchens.
Our Weimaraners in Destin Florida Photography
Anyone who has ever tried to take a photograph of their other family member, the household pet, knows just how difficult that can be. I know that my attempts to capture my two Weimaraners, Bolek and Sally, almost always make them look like a red-eyed dervish instead of the lovable darlings they truly are.

It seems to me that the four legged darlings that we consider another person in our flocks can be very temperamental when it comes to photography. However, for those of us who want a lasting image of our priceless pet, the answer is to engage a Destin Pet Photographer. Just one brief look at a sampling of any animal photography will by a professional will speak for itself. Whether you desire just a portrait of your feline or canine child the talent behind the camera is what counts.

Seeing Wedding Photographers Cry
Many photographers who love photographing weddings have told me that they get overwhelmed sometimes by the emotion of the wedding event.

This is easy to do, particularly if you relish the ritual and the tenderness of the wedding ceremony- in short, if you’re a hopeless romantic. I didn’t believe it till I saw it for myself – at my wedding day, when the photographers took moments off to wipe their tears! I got married without my shoes, my feet feeling the sand on the beach – as did the feet of everyone else who was there in Destin, Florida. It was a gorgeous day, and a wonderful occasion – the happiest of my life. The wedding photographers had us lined up for many, oh so many shots – from all angles and every direction.

There were formal photo-shoots and informal ones; single and group photos. Photographer shot till we all wanted to drop. Seriously! My wedding party was one group that wasn’t formal. Group photographs were panoramic, with Steve (my husband), bridesmaids, groomsmen and myself doing a conga line down the beach, dresses held high out of the water and the men’s pant legs rolled up. Destin Photographers were trendy and modern, yet their work eluded warmth. They knew what they were doing – barking orders for us to line up, or sit, or stand – even crazy things like, ‘lie down on the sand’. It did make for a very interesting photograph – luckily for me, it wasn’t my dress which had to suffer! Out little flower girl, my niece, all dolled up in her satin dress, took a moment to play in the sand on the beach, providing a real feel for the beauty of the beach wedding. There was a peaceful, relaxed feel to the entire affair, and the little girl demonstrated it perfectly. Photographs caught that on camera and we have her, perpetually smiling at us on the mantelpiece. We had a wonderful experience that day in Destin. Weddings are supposed to be memorable. The best way to keep that experience one you can truly cherish is by hiring the best picture takers you can find. Having a photographer who works with you, understands that this is not only your very special day, but also one of your most emotional. Just like the rest of our wonderful bridal party, my photography team was supportive and made an otherwise camera shy girl fell comfortable with the picture taking. We were very lucky to find that Destin based wedding photographer’s team, who took us through that wonderfully long day and left us with amazing memories we have to hold on to, for better or for worse, till death does us part.
